Membership Categories

Full Member – $310*
A legally qualified medical practitioner who is registered as a specialist in psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), is acceptable to the Credentials Committee and who has either:

• satisfactorily completed one year of accredited forensic psychiatry training, or
• satisfactorily completed two years of training in forensic psychiatry, or
• had at least one year of forensic psychiatry training and has primarily practised forensic psychiatry for at least three years, or
• not completed formal training in forensic psychiatry but has primarily practised forensic psychiatry for at least five years.

Member-in-Training – $113*
A legally qualified medical practitioner who is registered in an accredited training program in forensic psychiatry or who is acceptable to the Credentials Committee.

 Affiliate Categories

Associate – $310*
A medical practitioner who is actively engaged in or affiliated with the field of forensic psychiatry and is acceptable to the Credentials Committee.

Affiliate – $310*
A mental health professional who is making a significant contribution to the field of forensic psychiatry. Applications must be supported by two Full Members of CAPL who can attest to the applicant’s accomplishments and suitability.

Affiliate-in-Training – $113*
A medical practitioner who is registered in a psychiatry training program (PGY1 – 5) and is acceptable to the Credentials Committee.

Medical Student – $0*
A Canadian citizen who is currently enrolled in an accredited medical school and is acceptable to the Credentials Committee. Written confirmation (in English or in French) from the faculty of medicine where the applicant is enrolled, with expected graduation date, must accompany the application form.
